PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a biodegradable type functional fiber capable of retaining functions such as antimicrobial properties or aromaticity with good durability by applying a functionality imparting agent to a recessed part of a polylactic acid modified cross-section fiber. SOLUTION: This biodegradable type functional fiber is obtained by holding a functionality imparting agent, e.g. hinokitiol as a (micro)capsule, a microsphere or a clathrate compound prepared by including the hinokitiol in a microdextrin to a recessed part of at least one kind of a modified cross-section fiber comprising a polylactic acid and having a cross section selected from the group of U-shaped, X-shaped, Y-shaped and star-shaped fibers and forming a biodegradable type functional fiber. The resultant functional fiber is used alone or combined with a natural fiber into a yarn material, which is used to produce a functional yarn. The produced functional yarn is woven or knitted alone or mixed with a natural fiber yarn and woven or knitted to afford a biodegradable type functional fabric. |
