PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deflection distortion correcting device with a simple and compact structure capable of properly and effectively correcting a vertical deflection distortion (i.e., an upper/lower asymmetrical distortion) generated on a picture screen in a display surface part of a cathode-ray tube for image display by only an extremely easy adjustment. SOLUTION: This deflection distortion correcting device has correction magnetic field generating magnets 17, 20, and a correction magnetic field control magnets 18, 21. The correction magnetic field generating magnets 17, 20 are fixed to positions near a vertical deflection coil forming part 14 outside a deflection coil device 12 provided to a cathode-ray tube for image display. The correction magnetic field control magnets 18, 21 are turnably overlapped on the correction magnetic field generating magnets 17, 20 so that their magnetizing directions can be changed to magnetizing directions of the correction magnetic field generating magnets 17, 20. Because a magnetic field generated by a combination of the correction magnetic field generating magnets 17, 20 and the correction magnetic field control magnets 18, 21 is controlled by turning of the correction magnetic field control magnets 18, 21 to the correction magnetic field generating magnets 17, 20, a vertical deflection distortion on an image picture plane in the cathode-ray tube for image display is corrected.
