PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a subject to fix its line of sight without being conscious of the movement of a camera unit during photographing at the time of forming a parallax image string and to enable the subject to recognize conditions necessary for photographing, such as its own photographing position, and a photographing state. SOLUTION: This parallax image string pickup apparatus 1 is constituted by disposing a half mirror 40 between the subject 31 and the camera unit 32. The camera unit 32 is shielded so as to be invisible from a subject 31 side. The parallax image string image pickup apparatus 1 enables the subject 31 to fixes its line of sight to the half mirror 40 before and during the photographing of the parallax image string by projecting the figure of the subject 31 on the half mirror 40 and enables the subject 31 to recognize the conditions necessary for photographing, such as his or her own photographing position, and the photographing state.
