PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image with high image quality that suppresses thinning of border line of medium tone data by providing an edge enhancement processing to a designated border of areas and a means processing an image in the border of the areas, whose edge is enhanced to the processing unit so as to reduce a change in the image quality around the border. SOLUTION: This image processing unit is provided with an edge emphasis means that applies edge enhancement processing to the boundary of the designated areas and an image processing means that applies image processing to an image in a border of the areas, whose edge is enhanced so as to reduce the change in the image quality around the border. That is, edge enhancement processing is applied to a black lie image to decide in advance the border to enhance the density of the black image around the border, when conducting the processing pasting an area covered by the border line through designation of an edit area such as marker processing. A spatial filter of the image processing unit consists of FIFO buffers 210-213 and a sift register group 220, and when an edge discrimination signal edge is logically 1, a coefficient for edge enhancement is set to the filter so as to apply edge emphasis only to the black line. |
