The safety tab comprises a tab (2) secured to the end surface (1) of a scaffolding base, and a lever (3) which is turned to clamp it in between the tab and end surface. The top and bottom ends (4,5) of the lever are bent. Independent claims are also included for (a) a scaffolding base fitted with the safety device, which is preferably removable, (b) a method of securing a scaffolding base using the device, and (c) the use of the scaffolding base as part of a scaffolding system.
