PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of securely and quickly executing measuring examination for a printing performance. SOLUTION: This printer comprises a conveying device for conveying a printing paper, i.e., a cut paper, a visible image forming device for forming a visible image on the printing paper conveyed by the conveying device in accordance with printing data and a paper discharge sensor that detects whether the printing having the visible image formed thereon by the visible image forming device is conveyed to an end of a paper conveying passage by the conveying device. It further comprises a time measuring means 57 for measuring the printing time by using the detected signal from the paper discharge sensor as a printing completion timing of one sheet of the printing paper.
