PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiper pivot to eliminate the possibility for a protrusion obstacle to occur due to protrusion of a member even when a vehicle is brought into a clash state and to provide a pivot drive mechanism. SOLUTION: In a wiper pivot 10, a pivot shaft 22 is rotatably supported at a pivot holder 12 through a support 24. A washer 28 is arranged at the tip part of the pivot holder 12, and regulates axially downward movement of the pivot shaft 22 to the pivot holder 12 is regulated. The washer 28 has a given withstand load high enough to allow the regulation of movement of the pivot shaft 22 until a load axially exerted on the pivot shaft 22 attains a given value, and when an input exceeding the withstand load is effected, regulation of axial movement is released. After the release, the support 24 effects axial movement together with the pivot shaft 22 to buffer a movement force. This constitution eliminates the possibility for a protrusion obstacle to occur.
