A filter cartridge and method

A filter cartridge being adapted to receive a filter element under compression to form a tight fit between the cartridge and the element. The cartridge being hollow and having a sidewall that is sufficiently rigid for multiple use which involves repeated insertion and removal of filter elements from the cartridge. The filter element has a paper density between 12m/radial cm and 15m/radial cm, the relative dimension of the cartridge and filter element being so chosen that the cartridge can be located within a filter housing. Also claimed is the method for recycling said filter cartridge.
