PURPOSE: A measuring method and device for thickness of transparent material is provided to improve quality of product and reduce a waste and react a production parameter. CONSTITUTION: The measuring method and device comprises steps of forming a focus of optical beam with a modulation frequency; receiving two of optical beam reflected by each side of transparent material; generating an interference in a space of each beam; determining a number of vibration per modulation period of interference signal; inferring a difference of path and a thickness of transparent material of each beam; and determining a phase movement of interference signal, wherein transparent material maybe float glass and the phase movement of interference signal maybe use for an inference of other characteristics.
