PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reader which does not cause set-off at the time of reading a double-sided original. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with an original carrying means 24 which reverses a front side and a rear side of an original and feeds the original to an original reading position 4 again after feeding the original to the original reading position 4, an original illumination lamp 6 arranged near the position 4 for irradiating an original face with light, and a shading sheet 5 which is arranged at the original reading position 4 on a rear side of the original and functions as a white plate at the time of shading correction. The shading sheet 5 has a white part 5a and a black part 5b and, at the time of reading a double- sided original, the black part 5b is arranged at the original reading position. Thus, set-off is not caused even if the light of the document illumination lamp 6 is irradiated at the time of reading the double-sided original. |
