PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool which facilitates and speeds up the operation for inserting optical fibers into a connecting mechanism and the operation for connecting the optical fibers to each other in the connecting mechanism since the connecting mechanism with which an optical connector is equipped is small- sized. SOLUTION: The optical connector connecting tool is equipped with a connecting mechanism support base 3 which supports an optical connector 1 at a fixed position by a movement restricting means 5 and an opening/closing mechanism 14 which opens and closes an element part clamping and holding optical fibers in an abutting connection state in a connecting mechanism 52 by inserting and extracting a wedgelike opening member 55 into and from an insertion hole 61 bored in the connecting mechanism 52 assembled at the rear end side of the optical connector 1 and can easily connect an optical fiber projecting from the ferrule of the optical connector 1 to the rear end side to another optical fiber 64 in the element part in an abutting state.
