In a gramophone transducer, a support member 24 yieldingly carriers a stylus-holder bar 1 and the support member 24 is provided with locating means 20, 21 alternatively engageable with means 7 on a mounting structure 5 to permit the stylus-holder bar 1 to be secured in either of two positions. The sensitivity and compliance are different in the two positions. A turnover stereophonic pick-up has the stylus-holder bar 1 integrally connected with the support member 24 by a small diameter flexible neck 4 acting as a universal pivot. The support member 24 is generally cylindrical but has two opposite flats 9 and two locating throats 20, 21. The mounting structure 5 has a channel 6 with two ridges 7, 8. A leaf spring 10 has an end engaging a flat 9. Two piezoelectric "benders" 12 are coupled to the stylus-holder bar 1 by arms of a coupling member 23 having a forked end 13. As shown in full lines a relatively low output high compliance pick-up is obtained. The chain-dot arrangement provides a high output pick-up. The support member 24 is provided with a flap arm (14), Fig. 2 (not shown), by which the support member 24 is rotatable through 180 degrees for placing either an L.P. or coarse groove stylus 2, 3 in operative position. In a modification (not shown) the throats 20, 21 are replaced by flanges, subject to complementary modification of the mounting structure 5. A monaural pick-up having a single transducer element is envisaged. |
