The hydraulic system includes a hydraulic actuator (3) which supports a load subject to gravity. A pressurized hydraulic circuit (1) is constituted by an energy accumulator (2) connected to a hydraulic pump (4) which is itself connected to the actuator through hydraulic connections (5,6). A selection valve (10) is arranged between the connections and a non-return valve (18) is interposed between the valve and the pump. The pump passes a pre-specified flow of fluid in the circuit to cause displacement of the actuator in one direction or another.
