PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purification and sterilization apparatus which does not undergo the degradation in sterilizing power and is easily maintained and also provide a water purification and sterilization apparatus which does not allow miscellaneous germs to propagate therein even when tap water is seldom used or is not used for a long term. SOLUTION: After the stop of runnig water is detected by a running water sensor 50 and a certain time elapses, the first solenoid valve 21a is closed; the second solenoid valve 23a is opened; and a pump 23c and each ultraviolet irradiation light 25 are operated. Raw water flowing out of a sterilization unit 20 flows again through a recirculation channel 23 into a purification unit 10 to be purified and sterilized by purification unit 10 and the sterilization unit 20. Thus, the sterilization is carried out without fail even when water does not run for a long time and miscellaneous germs propagated.
