PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control device of a plasma melting furnace of wastes to effect the operation by estimating the condition in the melting furnace from the change of the electric signal during the operation to indicate the change of the condition in the furnace without relying on the intuition of a skilled operator. SOLUTION: In an operation control device of a melting furnace, a voltage measuring device 60 to measure the voltage between electrodes, a current measuring device 61, an electrode position measuring device 63, and a waste charging device and weighing instrument 52 are arranged in a melting furnace 10. In the melting furnace, a hearth electrode 56, a plasma electrode 55, a power source device 51, and the waste charging device and weighing instrument 52 provided with a waste hopper 57a, and a closing release device 62 are arranged. The operation control device is provided with a device 15 for extracting characteristics corresponding to the level fluctuation, a condition judging device 16 having threshold, and a furnace control device 17.
