PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a digital protective relay in which an opening and closing window for operation or the like is not required and in which a display return operation can be performed from the outside after a cover is mounted, by a method wherein a second display return means with reference to a relay- operation display part and a result display part on inspection and monitoring is installed at a cover on the front of a relay. SOLUTION: A second display return switch 20 is installed at a cover 2 on the front of a relay. Whether the cover 2 is placed or not is detected by a cover monitoring means 15. A display return switch 131 in a setting display part 13 as a first display return means and the second display return switch 20 are changed over by a changeover circuit 16. That is to say, when it is judged that the cover 2 is placed, a CPU 10 judges whether the display return switch 20 is turned on or off. When the switch 20 is turned on, display resetting processing operation is performed, and a return operation is finished. In addition, when the cover 2 is not placed, the CPU 10 judges whether the display return switch 131 in the setting display 13 is turned on or off. When the switch 131 is turned on, the display resetting processing operation is performed, and the return operation is finished.
