PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk memory device which makes it possible to obtain the timing information which permits strictly detection of the positional relation between a head and individual data memory cells and permits high-density recording. SOLUTION: An electrostatic capacitor element is constituted by arranging a recording and reproducing element 23 for executing recording and reproducing of information in the data memory cells 12 at the rear end of a slider 21 consisting of conductive material via an insulating film 22, by which the detection of the arrangement of the data memory cells 12 consisting of the very small isolated magnetic material cells in the track scanning direction on a substrate 11 as a change in electrostatic capacity is made possible. The recording and reproducing of the information are executed by forming the timing information corresponding to the arrangement of the data memory cells 12 from the change in the electrostatic capacity.
