PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor having only small number of components and a high manufacturing efficiency by effectively fixing a ceramic separator to a casing. SOLUTION: The oxygen sensor (gas sensor) 1 comprises a shaft-like oxygen detecting element 2, a cylindrical casing 10 for containing the element 2, and a ceramic separator 18 provided coaxially with the casing 10 and with a plurality of lead wire inserting holes 12 penetrated in an axial direction. A plurality of a buffer supporting protrusions are formed at a rear side opening end (casing side support) 90 of a main cylinder 24 (casing 10) brought into contact with the separator 18 along an opening circumferential direction. A filter assembly 16 (separator fixing means) for fixing the separator 18 to the casing 10 is provided in the state that the respective protrusions are compression deformed in their pressing directions by relatively pressing the separator 18 to the protrusions in the axial direction. |
