PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the use efficiency and color purity of light by shifting the optical axis of luminous flux made incident on each pixel toward the center of a unit optical element for light convergence. SOLUTION: A 1st microlens array 25 converges pieces of luminous flux of colors corresponding to respective pixels 22R, 22G and 22B of a reflecting electrode 22. Then a 2nd microlens array 27 slants the optical axes of respective pieces of luminous flux made incident obliquely on the pixel parts 22R and 22B on both the side so that the main light beams of the pieces of luminous flux are made incident almost vertically on the reflecting surfaces of the corresponding pixel parts 22R and 22B. At this time, the 2nd microlens array 27 sets the angle of incidence of the incident luminous flux so that the arrival position of the main light beam of the obliquely incident luminous flux is C1 shifted from the pixel center C0 to the center of the microlens array 27a by 8. Consequently, the symmetry of pieces of luminous flux made incident on respective pixels with the main light beams increases and the rate that luminous flux after being reflected at the pixel parts enters the original microlenses increases, so the light use efficiency and color purity can be improved on the whole. |
