The socket (AFS) cooperates with a plug connector at the rear of the plug-in module and is spring-loaded for allowing it to be deflected out of the path of a plug-in module of different height, with the deflected prevented when a stop mechanism (AM) is in the active position. The stop mechanism can be provided by a lever (SH) at one side of the socket, with a front surface engaged by the inserted plug- in module, for pivoting the lever to block the deflection of the socket.
