PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a central station to turn a narrow antenna beam to a sub- service area for a controlled time period in order to communicate with peripheral stations in the area by constituting and arraying a base station antenna array so as to drive it by a narrow beam and a wide beam respectively in a 1st mode and a 2nd mode. SOLUTION: Each base station 12 in a system 10 has plural antenna array panels 16 and capacity for generating either one of a wide beam pattern and a steerable narrow beam pattern. In addition, each base station 12 is provided with a base station transmitter and a base station receiver. Each subscriber's station 14 includes a patch array antenna and a transceiver unit. Each base station 12 is developed like a semi-regular hexagonal lattice in order to provide a coverage over a comparatively large geographic area and a coverage of 360 deg. is provided by at least three antenna panels in order to cover the geographic area.
