PURPOSE: An automatic answering telephone is provided to ring a telephone while inputting a precise password from a caller for answering a call requiring an emergency or an important call ringing from outside. CONSTITUTION: A telephone connected to a telephone line comprises: a key pad(20) containing a key for settling or not of a telephone bell signal output and plural keys for inputting a password; a memory(62) storing the key for settling or not of the telephone bell signal output and the password inputted from the key pad; a RING signal detecting instrument detecting a RING signal inputted from the telephone line for outputting a RING detecting signal as a result; a Dual Tone Multi Frequency(DTMF) detecting instrument(50) detecting a DTMF signal for outputting; and a speaker outputting a telephone bell signal in response to a controlling signal.
