PURPOSE: A back-light unit for liquid crystal display(LCD) device is provided to improve light efficiency by reducing light loss of lamp due to a light-guide plate. CONSTITUTION: The back-light unit comprises a lamp, a lamp reflection plate, a plane light source block formed a side of the lamp, a back-side reflection plate separated with the plane light source block, a diffusion plate formed at the front of the plane light source block, a prism sheet formed at the front of the diffusion plate, and a protection layer formed at the front of the prism sheet. The plane light source block includes a frame, many optic fibers arranged in one row on the surface of the frame in shape of linear line, and many slits which divides the optic fibers and outputs light emitting from the lamp to the diffusion plate, the prism sheet and the protection layer on the surface of the optic lines. The optic fibers arranged in the plane light source block changes emitting direction of light in a state of maintaining high photo-conductivity.
