PURPOSE: An air conditioner for dual purpose of cooling and heating is provided to efficiently control the pressure increase of a system by reducing the amount of the heat exchange of an external heat exchanger during heating overload. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner for dual purpose of cooling and heating comprises:a first bypass pipe to connect the input terminal and the output terminal of a second capillary tube by bypassing; a check valve(13) installed in the first bypass pipe and allowing only the coolant flowing according to the cooling operation; a second bypass pipe installed parallel with the first bypass pipe; and a relief valve(17) opened when the pressure of the coolant flowing from an interior heat exchanger to an exterior heat exchanger is over a certain level.
