The shaft seal has two bearing half shells (2), with each half shell as part of a casting (1). The seal is lubricated via grooves (4) half shells and connected to ducts (5,6) incorporated into the casting. The ducts are made of seamless metal tube which are shaped to fit into the casting. The metal tubes are of a different metal than the casting.
