PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain improvement in security by disabling the change of regular coin data in an electronic coin selector due to any person excepting for a manager by comparing the data of an inserted coin with key data and judging whether that coin is a key coin or not. SOLUTION: When a coin-shaped key is put into the slot of the selector, the data of that key coin are compared with key data 41 in a memory 36. As a result, when the coin-shaped key is judged to be genuine, a data preparing mode is executed. When a coin is put into the slot, the data of the inserted coin can be provided by sampling. The sampling data of the inserted coin are compared with coin data 42 in the memory 36. When the sampling data of the coin are matched with the coin data 42 of a 100-yen coin, the coin is judged proper to be genuine. When the coin is judged to be genuine, a solenoid 24 of a regular coin accept gate is turned on.
