PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-developable photosensitive material for photomechanical process, having high contrast by incorporating a specified compound in a specified image-forming layer formed with a coating liquid to which the one obtd. by dispersing this compound in water is added. SOLUTION: This image forming layer contains photosensitive silver halide and it is formed by using a binder composed of >=50 weight % a polymer latex and applying a coating liquid containing a solvent composed of >=60 weight % water, and further, this photosensitive material contains, on the side of this image forming layer, at least one kind of compound selected from the ones represented by formulae I and II in which Z1 is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form a 5-, 6- or 7-membered ring; each of Y1 and Y2 is a -C(C=)- group; each of X1 and X2 is a -O-(1/k)M; M is a cation; (k) is the valence number of M; and Y3 is an H atom or the like. This compound is dispersed in water and added to the coating fluid.
