<p>PURPOSE: The object is to provide D-mannitol, which is excellent in powder properties and dramatically improved in compressibility, by a simple procedure. CONSTITUTION: The method of producing of D-mannitol comprises a step of moistening the surface of the delta form crystals with a water-soluble solvent to cause successive transformation of a portion or all of the delta form crystals reacted with the solvent into the beta form from the surface to the inside, and a step of drying to suppress the growing of the resultant beta form crystals. Then D-mannitol exists as a mixture of delta form crystals and beta form crystals. The D-mannitol shows improved compressibility and is useful as an excipient.</p> |
