APPARATUS FOR ALIGNING THE OBJECT FOCUS IN FILAMENT IRRADIATING UNITS

PURPOSE: An apparatus for a irradiating filament is provided to easy and simply align the object focus within a filament tube included in filament irradiating units to a free three-dimensional direction. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for aligning an object focus of an elliptical reflector (33),positioned within a filament tube (32) of a filament irradiating unit (70,71, 72), with the centerline axis of the filament (30) as it extends through the tube. The apparatus includes a support assembly (50) for mounting the tube in a precise fixed position, and three adjustable mounting assemblies (54, 56, 58) connected to the support assembly at three spaced-part connection points for mounting the support assembly on a stationary base (52). Each of the mounting assemblies includes a pair of adjustable linkages (210, 212) which form two sides of a triangle with its apex at the point of connection to the support assembly. Each connection point is at the apex of an imaginary triangle such that adjustment of the mounting assemblies provides both lateral and tilting movements of the support assembly relative to the stationary base.
