METHOD FOR CONTROLLING COPY PROTECTION IN DIGITAL VIDEO NETWORKS

PURPOSE: An apparatus and system is provided to control copy protection of analog and digital signal in digital delivery network. CONSTITUTION: Video service providers(3) is authorized by the rights holders to copy protection to program materials protected by pay per view(PPV) or pay to tape(PTT) and supplying PPV/PTT program via respective control billing(tracking) centers in generating commands which activate, control and reconstitute copy protection process being applied to the programs being transmitted. A set top box(10) is provided to each consumer and containing a digital encoder chip applying selected anticopy waveforms to the analog and video signal. Video service providers report usage data to each consumer transmitted by a set top box to the respective rights holders and process.
