PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow applicable light distribution and provide a certain actuation and miniaturization in a simple structure by controlling a shielding device according to a vehicle sensor signal using a control device for a headlamp device and by continuously adjusting the shielding device so as to create an optimal light distribution in every vehicle state. SOLUTION: A light source of a headlamp 1 is formed as a gas discharge lamp and small with same luminous intensity by high illuminance. A headlamp device 1 has a reflector 2 consisting of reflector divisions 2a, 2b related to side diffusion and reflector divisions related to forward region illumination, and a shielding device 4 corresponding to the side reflector divisions 2a, 2b around the light source 3. A control device for the headlamp device 1 continuously controls light radiated from the light source 3 according to a vehicle sensor signal with the shielding device 4. Thus, a device which allows continuously adjusted light distribution optimal to every vehicle state, has a simple structure, certainly actuates, and is miniaturized is provided.
