CERAMIC MEMBRANE TYPE REACTOR FOR SYNTHESIS GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the process for producing synthesis gas by combining an exothermic partial oxidation reaction and an endothermic steam reforming reaction. SOLUTION: In a reactor 10 having at least one oxygen selective ion transfer membrane 34a capable of exothermically reacting with oxygen obtained from an oxygen containing gas such as air, the exothermic reaction and the endothermic reaction are thermally combined so that the amount of heat needed for the endothermic reaction is supplied by the exothermic reaction. The exothermic reaction and the endothermic reaction can be combined so that gas can flow to participate the both reactions by constituting a suitable reactor to be used.
