PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel illuminator for an automobile in which heat generated by a bulb is ventilated so that no heat remains in the hole section of a lens. SOLUTION: The illuminator is provided with a display panel 30, a bulb 20 for illumination, a hole section 11 into which the bulb 20 is inserted, and a lens 10, which guides the light beams from the bulb 20 to the panel 30. A groove 12 is formed on the lens 10 so that the groove 12 is connected to the section 11 to ventilate heat generating by the hub 20.
