PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging device that suppresses increase in the temperature of a battery according to the state of the battery and at the same time, can charge the battery quickly. SOLUTION: A map is subjected to retrieval (S40) according to the temperature and temperature increase value of a battery, and an allowed current value, where charge can be made while increase in the temperature of the battery is suppressed, is obtained for charging (S42), the battery by an allowed current value, thus quickly charging a nickel hydrogen battery without generating deterioration due to temperature increase. In this case, when it is decided that the charge is not at the last stage according to change in the voltage of the battery (more specifically, when S30 is Yes), the amount of change in temperature is corrected (S34), and a relatively large tolerance value is obtained (S40), based on the map. That is, before the last stage of the charge, a large current is allowed to flow without performing change for adjusting the current value, thus making the charging to be completed quickly.
