PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moire removing method for automatically detecting and removing moire. SOLUTION: Image data are read 1 by an image sensor first and converted 2 into a digital signal, an approximate curve is found from the converted image data to calculate its maximum and minimum values, and the generation of moire is detected 3 when the calculated maximum and minimum values are in specific cycles. Therefore, once the moire is decided, a moire removing process 4 based upon a correction value calculated from the maximum and minimum values is performed for the image data and the colors of the image data having the moire removed are corrected through a correcting process 5.
