PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make easily specificable an image to be transmitted on both receiving and transmitting sides and to transmit the specified image by retrieving a specific image from data stored in a storage function based on the check information of a mark sheet and transmitting the retrieved image. SOLUTION: A user of a receiving side image communication equipment receiving an index image table with mark sheets checks a mark sheet corresponding to an image requested to be transmitted, a scanner 6 in the receiving side image communication equipment is allowed to read out the mark sheet and return it. When a discriminated result includes the prescribed mark sheet, the receiving side image communication equipment goes to a contents grasping process. In the process, a data processing part 7 analyzes the checked information of the mark sheet read out by the scanner part 6 and converts the analyzed information into electronic data. When an image output request exists on the mark sheet as the result of analysis, mark sheet returning operation is executed. In the mark sheet returning operation, image data are transmitted in accordance with a single side mode and a double side mode.
