PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chuck capable of promptly perceiving a trouble in working. SOLUTION: This chuck consists of a substrate 2 rotated with the spindle 1 of a machine tool; a recessed inlet hole 3 having an opened tip end face and provided in the shaft core of the substrate; a holder 4 inserted in the recessed inlet hole with pressing force in the projected direction provided, and for holding an appropriate cutting tool A on its tip end; a transmission mechanism 5 allowing the holder to slide by given length relative to the substrate and for transmitting the rotation of the substrate to the holder; and an appropriate locking mechanism 21 for retaining the retraction of the holder retracted in the substrate against the pressing force, and capable of releasing the retention of the retraction. Retaining the retraction of the holder perceives a trouble. |
