PURPOSE: A softer handoff method within cellular mobile telecommunication system is provided to transmit in a new added sector when a softer swap handoff is generated, and to stop an excluded sector after performing handoff for a mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: The method is performed by a base station controller(21) in a code division multiple access system. According to the method, a mobile terminal(41) reports new activating collection to the base station controller(21). According to the new activating collection, the base station controller(21) determines to exclude the first sector of prior collection, and to add the second sector of prior collection. The base station controller(21) commands a base station(31) to start transmission to the second sector. The base station controller(21) commands the mobile terminal(41) to exclude the first sector of prior collection, and to add the second sector of prior collection. The mobile terminal(41) performs a handoff procedure to exclude the first sector of prior collection, and to add the second sector of prior collection. When the mobile terminal(41) reports the handoff ending to the base station controller(21), the base station controller(21) commands the base station(31) to stop transmission to the first sector. |
