A surfactant has at least one hydrophilic and at least one hydrophobic residue, linked directly or indirectly, in which each residue is a biodermal constituent, cytocompatible with the skin, so that in addition to its surfactant activity the compound also has a topical bioactivity, that is optionally different to the bioactivity of at least one of the biodermic components.
