PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to mount and user even binoculars of a roof type on a stand without requiring constitution for arranging a holder on the periphery of a central shaft by providing the binoculars with a base body part which has a loading plate formed with a contact surface with the stand and a loading surface of the binoculars, a retaining member which engages with the loading plate and moves in a direction orthogonal the loading surface and a drive assembly which moves the retaining member. SOLUTION: The binoculars 1 are placed on the buffer holding plate on the loading plate 2a. At this time, eyepiece parts and objective parts are placed on a stepped part in such a manner as to provide the workable position of the retaining member 9 in the front part. When the placement of the binoculars 1 in a desired position is completed, a drive knob 4 is rotated. A bottom supporting plate 6 is moved by the rotation to the direction where the plate is parted from the loading plate 2a by the effect of a drive screw, i.e., downward. An upright column 7 integral with the bottom supporting plate 6 moves downward in a through-hole upon receipt of the movement, Then, the retaining member 9 moves downward as well and the buffer member comes into contact with the binoculars 1. The binoculars 1 are thus held and fixed.
