PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the satisfactory transmission of data and speech in a communication system where the remote control of a radio unit is carried out via a console by switching the transmission bands via the remote control of the console. SOLUTION: The speech communication is carried out while the remote control of a radio unit 2 of a base station is performed via a console 3. An SW 40 contained in a repeater 31 is switched toward (b) and a FAX in-switch 53 of an EAX 45 is turned on. When the training is over, a transmission switch 57 is pressed by a FAX 46 of a mobile station and the data are transmitted. Then a clearing code is inputted via a ten-key pad 58 of the mobile station. A DTMF generation/detection part 39 of the unit 2 returns as SW 38 toward (a) and outputs a clearing code to a FAX interface 43. A DTMF detection part 51 returns the SW 40 toward (a). Thus, a part of speech band is usually used for the transmission/reception of control signals to perform the control of the unit 2. When the data are transmitted in FAX, etc., all voice bands are used for the transmission/reception of data.
