摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable interchangeability with a vapor deposition medium by specifying magnetization quantity and inverse magnetic field distribution to give high electromagnetic conversion property and excellent preservation property and to improve overwrite property with the decrease of the friction of a head. SOLUTION: The magnetic layer having 4.3×10-5-5.1×10-5 emu/mm2 magnetization quantity Ms and inverse magnetic field distribution SFD of <=0.25 is formed on a non-magnetic layer. The magnetic layer consists essentially of Fe and contains 18-40 wt.% Co, 5-10 at.% Y or rare earth metal and 10-15 at.% Al and is formed from a ferromagnetic metallic powder having <=30 ppm total soluble ion in the metallic powder. High magnetic energy is given by using Fe powder in this way, sintering is prevented by adding Al, Y and the rare earth element, the core density of the magnetic powder is increased by the crystal control, the properties are improved by uniformalizing the particles, coating property is improved to form a dense film, low range characteristics in overwrite is also improved by decreasing SFD and the interchangeability with the vapor deposition medium is attained.
