The shoe, having an upper (2) which adjusted by a lace (9) to fit the wearer's foot, incorporates a stiffener (7) at the back of the upper to go round the wearer's heel. The lateral extensions (7') of the stiffener are passed at the front of the shoe between inner and outer layers of the upper and rise up as far as the opening, where they have holes (10, 30) for the lace.
