PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time required to the completion of printing by retreating received print data to a spool part at the occurrence of an error state and storing subsequently sent data in the spool part. SOLUTION: Generally, a controller part 103 of a printer stores received print data in a receiving buffer 307. At the occurrence of an error, the controller part moves the data stored in the receiving buffer to a print data spool part 305c and stores also data received thereafter in the spool part 305c. When recovered from the error, the controller part returns a storage destination for the received data to the receiving buffer 307, reads out data from the print data spool part 305c and resumes outputting.
