PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building in which natural ventilation can be secured to obtain a comfortable environment. SOLUTION: A building 1 is erected so as to substantially surround a courtyard 2. A means reducing temperature increase is provided at least in an incident zone of sunshine of the ground surface of the courtyard, the roof floor face 1a of the building, or the external wall faces 1b, 1c. In this way, a temperature difference is secured so that the temperature of the ground surface of the courtyard and the skin layer temperature of the building is kept lower than the ground surface, temperature of the external parts of the building and the skin layer temperature of the peripheral buildings to cause an air stream W which flows down from the upper part of the courtyard and passes through the building from the courtyard and further flows to the outside and rises up at the outside of the building. Planted vegetation 4, 5, an artificial pond 3, a water sprinkler, a water sprayer, a sunshade, an air cooler, etc., are considered as the means reducing temperature increase. One of them is adopted or some of them are appropriately combined.
