PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the consumption unit of zinc by reducing the quantity of bottom dross to be generated. SOLUTION: In the method for removing bottom dross in which a hot dip galvanizing soln. contg. bottom dross is introduced from a plating tank into a bottom dross precipitator to precipitate the bottom dross, and, after that, the hot dip galvanizing soln. is returned to the plating tank, the concn. of iron contained in the hot dip galvanizing soln. returning to the plating tank is controlled to the range within the saturated solubility of zinc in an ion saturated solution at the hot dip galvanizing soln. temp. in the plating tank -0.010% to +0.005%. The quantity of the iron to be melted reduces to reduce the quantity of the bottom dross to be formed. As a result, the consumption unit of zinc can be reduced.
