PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing optical fiber preform that can give the perform having a uniform shape by single sintering step. SOLUTION: In the production of optical fiber preform, the raw materials for optical fiber and the reaction gas are blown to the surface of the base material to accumulate the soot on the surface of the base material to form the optical fiber porous preform. In this case, the accumulation of the soot on the base material is varied in the longitudinal direction of the base material, when the soot is accumulated. |
