PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To complete an operation in one clock cycle by executing an exclusive-OR operation of respective four bits that are first inputted and high order four bits including the most significant bit of the preceding CRC code to produce the 12th bit to the 15th bit of the latest CRC code, and producing the 11th bit of the latest CRC code with the least significant bit of the preceding CRC code. SOLUTION: This CRC arithmetic circuit 30 can be mounted on a communication device which executes a digital communication system such as modem communication and an LSI inside and performs an operation of a CRC code through a hardware with a logic circuit as a center. A register 16 has a function which synchronizes a CRC code that is an operation result of cyclic redundancy check with a clock Clock inputted from the outside of the circuit 30 and stores it and a function which returns data held with a reset signal Reset to initial value. A 1st XOR gate 10 executes an exclusive-OR operation based on a prescribed correspondence relation and outputs it as a result of the exclusive-OR operation.
