PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reader which can reduce the fatigue of an operator and prevent a read window from damaging. SOLUTION: The read window 4 of the data reader 3 has its code-symbol side surface formed in an arcuately curved shape which is concave in the moving direction of a code symbol. Consequently, when the operator holding an article on which, for example, a bar code as the code symbol is stuck moves the article along the curved shape of the read window 4, the curved shape serves as a guide and the track of a hand of the operator mentally easily becomes arcuate around a shoulder, so it is not necessary for the operator to expand and contract the hand, thereby reducing the operator's fatigue when the operator works for a long time. Further, an article is moved along the curved shape of the read window 4 to prevent the article from coming into contact with the read window 4, thereby preventing the read window 4 from damaging. |
