High illumination safe torch which may be used outside in gardens and similar locations

A wick (2) made from a non combustible materiel such as glass fibre is supported and secured by a bracket (4) and slider (6) above a reservoir (1) of combustible material such as paraffin powder. The torch is started by sprinkling the paraffin powder over the wick and continues by capillary action the brightness being proportional to the thickness of the wick. The flame is prevented from reaching the reservoir by the bracket and slider.
